Community Rallies for Centerville Janitor Scammed Out of $39K
A Centerville man known for his dedication and kindness is receiving an outpouring of support after falling victim to a devastating financial scam. Josh Wall, a longtime Davis County resident who works as a janitor for the Davis School District, recently lost nearly $39,000 — his entire life savings — to fraudsters.
Despite the heartbreaking setback, friends and family are stepping in to help. Described by loved ones as resilient and hardworking, Josh has spent years overcoming personal challenges and contributing quietly to the community. Now, that same community is stepping up in his time of need.
In an effort to recover some of the lost funds, a Yard & Bake Sale is being organized for Saturday, November 22, 2025. The fundraiser will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 662 S 550 E in Kaysville. All proceeds will go directly to helping Josh recover from the financial blow.
In addition to the in-person fundraiser, supporters can also contribute through a GoFundMe campaign set up on Josh’s behalf.

Utah Food Pantries Struggle to Keep Up as Holiday Demand Soars
As the holidays near, Utah food pantries are experiencing increased demand, fueled by rising living costs and the end of federal pandemic relief programs. Many families, including those new to assistance, are turning to places like the Utah Food Bank and Crossroads Urban Center for help.
With inflation straining household budgets and fewer government resources available, food banks are working harder to meet growing needs, even as their own supplies and donations struggle to keep up.
Community support—through both food and financial donations—is now more critical than ever, not just for the holidays, but for the months ahead.

Davis School District to End French Dual-Language Program at South Davis Junior High
Davis School District will end its small French dual-language program at South Davis Junior High in 2026, consolidating it into a larger program at another school. The move follows low enrollment and reflects ongoing statewide evaluations of immersion programs.

🧣 Community Cares: Sunday Soup & Blanket Drive Helping Those in Need
Local neighbors are stepping up in a big way through the Sunday Soup and Bountiful Blanket Drive, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake City. Organizer Fox Les is collecting donations of used blankets, coats, gloves, and beanies — with a convenient drop-off box located at Dick’s Market on Orchard Drive.
Food donations are also welcome, including canned goods, noodles, beans, and vegetables, which volunteers use to prepare hot soup handed out every Sunday morning.
Those interested in helping cook, donate, or assist with distribution can reach out to Les directly for details.
As temperatures drop, this grassroots effort is a powerful reminder of Bountiful’s caring spirit and the difference we can make together.
