Meet the Stenopelmatus: Your Garden's Friendly Helper
Have you seen a peculiar insect in your garden recently? It's the Stenopelmatus, also known as a potato bug or Jerusalem cricket. Despite their spooky look, these insects are great for your garden!
Often mistaken for spiders or scorpions, Stenopelmatus insects are harmless. They use their mandibles to munch on organic waste, helping to aerate the soil and keep it healthy. This means better oxygen for your plants and a more fertile garden.
These helpful bugs are active at night and live for about a year. So, when you spot one, remember they're your garden's little helpers. Instead of harming them, appreciate their role in keeping your garden thriving.
The local Biological Community urges us to protect these beneficial insects. Next time you see a Stenopelmatus, thank them for their hard work in your garden!

Bountiful Museum Seeks Friendly Volunteers for Weekly Shifts
The Bountiful Museum & Learning Center, located at 305 North Main in Bountiful, is seeking volunteers to assist with their operations. This opportunity is perfect for those who enjoy meeting new people and have a few hours to spare once or twice a week. Historical knowledge is not required; the museum is simply looking for individuals with a friendly demeanor and some free time. Interested volunteers can visit the museum in person during their open hours on Wednesdays from 2-4 PM and Saturdays from 1-3 PM, or they can call 801-296-2060 for more information.

Utah One Step Away from Securing 2034 Winter Games
Utah is on the brink of hosting the 2034 Winter Olympics, with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) advancing its bid to a final vote in July. The decision follows a favorable review from the IOC's Future Host Commission. Utah's bid emphasizes sustainability, reuse of 2002 Olympic venues, and a $2.83 billion budget relying on private funding. Plans include enhancing community engagement, promoting diversity, and ensuring accessibility. Governor Spencer Cox and local leaders will be in Paris for the vote and, if successful, will sign the hosting contract.
