At Bountiful Buzz, we love celebrating the passion and creativity that local businesses bring to our community. This week, weβre shining a spotlight on Wasatch Mountain Bakery, a new but rapidly beloved micro-bakery run by the talented duo, KC and Breanne Smedley.
Wasatch Mountain Bakery specializes in crafting a variety of mouthwatering bread and pastries, from their signature sourdough bread to the delightful Dutch crunch loaves, flaky croissants, and melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies. Located at 1262 North 1100 West in Farmington, this bakery has quickly become a local favorite for those who appreciate high-quality baked goods made with love.
A Labor of Love
KC and Breanneβs story is as heartwarming as the fresh bread coming out of their ovens. KC, a seasoned chef at Little America, and Breanne, a former elementary teacher, share a deep passion for baking. Their joy in creating delicious baked goods and seeing the smiles they bring to their customersβ faces led them to start Wasatch Mountain Bakery just a year ago. What began as a small endeavor has grown, with their products now available at local farmers markets and through wholesale partnerships with other small businesses in Davis County. They also offer porch pick-up orders, making it easy for locals to enjoy their treats anytime.
Quality You Can Taste
What sets Wasatch Mountain Bakery apart is not just the skill and experience behind their products but the commitment to using only the finest ingredients. Chef KC draws from over a decade of experience, utilizing recipes heβs perfected and crafted to deliver baked goods that are as unique as they are delicious. Every loaf of bread and pastry is a testament to their dedication to quality and their desire to bring joy to the community.

Community Connections
The Smedleys are more than just bakers; they are active participants in the community. Wasatch Mountain Bakery proudly collaborates with other small businesses in Davis County, and they also support CAFA Utah (Community Alliance of Filipino Americans) by providing products for their events. Their involvement in local farmers markets, including the Sunset Farmers Market, West Point Farmers Market, and the upcoming Bountiful Market, allows them to connect directly with the community they love to serve.
Whatβs Next?
βοΈ Exciting things are on the horizon for Wasatch Mountain Bakery! You can find their products at Miyaβs Market in Clearfield and Split Leaf Coffee in Bountiful. Be sure to visit them at the Bountiful Market every Thursday in September to try something new and delicious.
Stay connected with Wasatch Mountain Bakery on Instagram for updates on new products, events, and more. Whether youβre a bread enthusiast or just looking for a sweet treat, Wasatch Mountain Bakery has something special waiting for you.

Davis County Seeks Artists for Mural Grant Program, Open Until September 30th
Davis County is offering a fantastic opportunity for local artists and businesses through its mural grant program, which aims to bring more public art to the community. The county is actively looking for artists with mural experience to apply for the grant, which helps fund public art projects that add vibrancy and character to the area.
Artists interested in participating are encouraged to apply by filling out the provided form. The application process is simple and open until September 30th. The grant program has already supported several beautiful murals throughout the county, and examples of these funded projects have been shared in the comments of the announcement post.
In addition to seeking artists, the program is also calling on local businesses to consider incorporating murals into their properties. Businesses in Davis County interested in enhancing their spaces with unique and eye-catching murals are encouraged to look into the grant program. By participating, they can contribute to the county's growing art scene and create landmarks that will draw the attention of both residents and visitors.
The initiative not only supports the local arts community but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the county, making it a more vibrant place to live and work.
For artists and businesses interested in this exciting opportunity, more information and the application form can be accessed here.

Officials Warn of West Nile Virus in Mosquitoes Around Weber, Davis Counties
West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes across several Utah counties, including Weber and Davis. This year, 63 mosquito pools in Davis County and 20 in Weber County have tested positive. The first human infection of the year was reported in Utah County, along with four West Nile-positive horses in Weber County. Residents are advised to eliminate standing water in their yards and take precautions like wearing long sleeves, especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.

π Utah Football Exits Camp Healthy, Focuses on Game Day Details
Utah Football wrapped up its fall camp with a positive outlook, shifting focus to the finer details as the season opener nears. Head coach Kyle Whittingham emphasized the importance of precision, particularly in alignment, technique, and effort. The team exited camp healthier than last year, with a significant reduction in injuries. The return of key players like Cameron Rising and Brant Kuithe adds to the teamβs optimism, though they are still working to regain full competitive form. Incorporating new faces remains a priority as the season begins.

The ensemble, which began in 2018 with fewer than 40 musicians, has now grown to over 70. They recently performed a well-attended summer concert featuring music by John Williams. The symphony emphasizes inclusivity and encourages young musicians to join, fostering a love for orchestral music in the community.
