Police Looking to Reunite Lonely Bike with Its Rider in West Bountiful
A bicycle recently discovered without its owner has found temporary refuge at the West Bountiful Police Department. Found unattended and seemingly abandoned, the bike was turned over to authorities who are now seeking to reconnect it with its rightful owner.
While safe and in good condition, the bicycle appears to have been left behind without any identification. The police department shared a lighthearted notice on social media, humorously suggesting that the bike might soon start filing paperwork to become part of the team if not claimed.
Community members who recognize the bicycle or know someone who may have lost it are encouraged to contact the department. Officers hope to return the bicycle before its absence becomes permanent.

Roadwork Alert: 400 North Closed at 800 East This Friday
Bountiful residents should prepare for a temporary road closure on Friday, May 9. Starting at 7:00 AM, 400 North will be shut down at the intersection of 800 East to allow for necessary infrastructure work. The closure is expected to last most of the day, with an anticipated reopening around 3:00 PM, weather and progress permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes ahead of time and consult the city’s provided detour maps to avoid delays. Local officials appreciate the community's patience as crews work to complete the project safely and efficiently. For further information or questions, residents can contact Bountiful Irrigation at 801-295-5573.

Fatal Fall on Arches Trail Claims Life of Elderly Hiker
A 77-year-old man from Germany lost his life Tuesday after a fall on a popular hiking trail at Arches National Park in Utah.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the Windows Loop trail following reports of a hiker who had fallen. Bystanders initiated CPR immediately, and multiple agencies—including the Grand County Sheriff's Department, EMS, and Classic Air Medical—responded to the scene. Despite efforts to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at the site.
Authorities identified the deceased as Rudolf Peters, a visitor from Haltern am See, Germany. The specific cause of the fall has not been determined, and both the National Park Service and Grand County Sheriff's Office have launched an investigation into the incident.
Officials emphasized the importance of visitor preparedness, noting that uneven terrain, unpredictable weather, and existing medical conditions can all pose serious risks while hiking.
