Two Fires Yesterday Keep South Davis Crews on the Move
It was a busy day yesterday for South Davis Metro Fire crews, who responded to two separate fires in Bountiful and North Salt Lake.
At 12:24 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of 1500 South in Bountiful. Crews found flames on a homeโs exterior porch extending into the eaves and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading inside. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a minor injury and later released. No civilians were injured. The cause remains under investigation.
Later last night around 8:15 p.m., crews responded to a travel trailer fire on the 100 block of 400 West in North Salt Lake. The trailer was fully engulfed and located just five feet from a commercial building. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, preventing damage to the nearby business. No injuries were reported. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
Units responding throughout the day included Chief 801, Battalion 81, Truck 85, Engine 84, Medic Engines 81 and 82, and Ambulances 82 and 85.

Bountiful Police Warn Residents of Phone Scam Impersonating Department Leaders
The Bountiful City Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers who falsely claim to be Lt. Sheldon or Lt. Gill. Victims are told they have unpaid tickets or warrants and are instructed to stay on the line while making a payment at a gas station kiosk.
Police stress that the department never calls about unpaid tickets or warrants, never demands payment over the phone, and never directs people to pay at kiosks or convenience stores.
Residents who receive suspicious calls should hang up immediately and contact the police department directly to verify the information.

Davis School District Unites for Inspiring Unified Basketball Tournament
Western Sports Park in Farmington was filled with energy as all nine Davis School District high schools gathered for the annual Unified Basketball Tournament. Bountiful, Clearfield, Davis, Farmington, Layton, Northridge, Syracuse, Viewmont and Woods Cross competed in a day that highlighted teamwork, competition and school pride, with strong support from students and community members in the stands.
The tournament is part of the districtโs Unified Sports program in partnership with Special Olympics Utah. The program promotes inclusion by bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same team. The event reflected the districtโs commitment to belonging, opportunity and meaningful connections beyond the game.

๐ Bendingerโs 21 Points Power Woods Cross Past Viewmont
Woods Cross secured a decisive 66-47 victory over Viewmont in Region 6 boys basketball action, fueled by a standout performance from Elliot Bendinger. The Wildcats set the tone early, jumping ahead with a dominant 19-7 first quarter and maintaining control for the remainder of the game.
Woods Cross continued to build its advantage throughout the contest, sealing the win with a strong 22-point effort in the fourth quarter. Bendinger led all scorers with 21 points, while Bryson Watson added 12 points, including two shots from beyond the arc. Nate Smith-Mecham also contributed 13 points in the balanced offensive effort.
Viewmont was led by Tyson Bromley, who finished with 13 points along with three rebounds and two assists.
