Good morning, friends! โ๏ธ
How is it already July?! It feels like we were just taking down Christmas decorations, and somehow we're already halfway through 2026. Time really does fly when your calendar is packed with parades, summer adventures, and trying to remember which day the fireworks are actually legal. ๐
Me and the Hubby are heading to Washington, D.C., for the Fourth of July this year, so that should be fun celebrating America's 250th anniversary in our nation's capital. ๐บ๐ธ I'm super excited to soak up the historyโand maybe bring back a few stories to share,
Today's Buzz includes a reminder about verifying election information before sharing it online, Bountiful's temporary fireworks ban, an upcoming US-89 paving project that could affect your commute, and an update to our ongoing "Great Flock Camera Debate."
Plus, Preppy Paws is back with another simple tip to keep your pups happy and healthy this summer. ๐พ
Let's dive into today's local news and community happenings! ๐

๐ณ๏ธ Davis County Urges Residents to Verify Election Information
The Quick Summary: Davis County officials are asking residents to double-check election information before sharing it online after discovering an altered image claiming to show past local election results. The county says the certified results from the 2024 gubernatorial primary remain unchanged and publicly available, with all 438 precincts officially canvassed on July 9, 2024. Residents are encouraged to use official county and state election websites when verifying election data.
Reliable information helps maintain public trust in local elections and ensures residents are sharing accurate, verified results with their neighbors.

๐ซ Bountiful Bans Private Fireworks July 2โ5
Bountiful city leaders have announced that all private fireworks are prohibited within city limits from July 2โ5 following Governor Coxโs state of emergency declaration related to wildfire conditions across Utah. The governorโs executive order gives municipalities the authority to follow the state foresterโs guidance and enact local bans. Municipal fireworks shows will still move forward as planned with firefighters on-site for safety.
Residents should make alternative plans for personal fireworks this week to help reduce wildfire risks and avoid potential fines or safety issues.

๐ง US-89 Overnight Paving Project Starts July 7
UDOT will begin a major paving project on US-89 on July 7, covering the stretch from the I-15 ramps in Bountiful to Eagle Ridge Drive in North Salt Lake. Work is expected to continue through mid-October and will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday nights through Thursday nights. Drivers should expect lane closures, traffic shifts, and temporary side street closures during construction hours.
Thousands of South Davis commuters use this corridor daily, so planning around overnight construction could help avoid delays and make summer travel a little smoother. ๐ See post
๐ฌ COMMUNITY CHATTER update
"Just when you thought the Flock conversation had flown south, we've got a quick update..." ๐ฆ๐น
After our Great Flock Camera Debate sparked plenty of conversation (and a few laughs), Bountiful Mayor Kate Bradshaw reached out with some helpful clarification.
The Flock cameras that residents have been discussing are state-owned cameras located on state roads, not cameras operated by the City of Bountiful. Many of these roads are state highways or major corridors that include freeway entrances and exits.
Mayor Bradshaw also noted that the Bountiful Police Department uses a separate license plate reader system that does not connect to the Flock network. For those interested in learning more, the city's official camera policy is available here: Bountiful Police Department Camera Policy.
As always, we appreciate everyone who joined the conversation and shared their perspectives. Whether you see these cameras as a valuable public safety tool or have concerns about privacy, one thing is clear: this topic has certainly gotten the community talking!
