The Freedom’s Light Festival invites attendees to an exciting, free event designed to celebrate America, the Constitution, and the individuals who played a key role in shaping the nation. This three-day festival, held at Bountiful Park, offers over 40 interactive activities and historical reenactments, providing visitors a unique opportunity to meet and engage with historical figures in an immersive experience.

The event will take place from Thursday, September 19, through Saturday, September 21. Each day features a variety of exciting activities, including live cannon firings, patriotic marches, and family-friendly entertainment. Guests will enjoy the "Give Me Liberty" play, learn about America’s lost virtues from Professor Gove Allen, and hear from Jennie Taylor, a Gold Star widow, who will speak about the true price of freedom.

Other highlights include live music, dances with instructions, and special appearances such as Mrs. Utah Cindy Yates. Each day offers new experiences, and visitors are encouraged to explore the numerous exhibits and educational stations to fully immerse themselves in America’s rich history.

The festival wraps up on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., and volunteers are invited to help with the cleanup afterward. Donations are welcomed through Venmo to support the event, and those wishing to volunteer can contact the organizers via email or phone.

Local Family Seeks Support as 10-Year-Old Rylie Ward Fights to Recover

A heartbreaking accident has left 10-year-old Rylie Ward in critical condition after being struck by a car on her way to school on Tuesday, September 10th. The incident occurred in her neighborhood, leaving the community shocked and rallying to support the Ward family during this difficult time.

Rylie's parents, Michael and Jessica Ward, are facing an immense emotional and financial burden as they focus on their daughter’s recovery. While the family is grateful for the preparation they have made with good insurance and savings, the medical bills are expected to be significant as Rylie fights to heal. In response, Chris Wood, a close family friend, has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial strain.

In a message shared through the GoFundMe page, Michael and Jessica expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and generosity from their friends and neighbors. They emphasized that while they are prepared for emergencies, any help during this challenging time will go a long way toward covering Rylie’s medical expenses. Funds raised will directly support her medical care, with any remaining donations being set aside for Rylie and her sister Hailey’s future needs.

Community members are encouraged to contribute what they can and share the fundraiser to widen the reach of support. Donations can be made through the GoFundMe page, with the assurance that all contributions go directly to the family.

As Rylie continues her fight to recover, the Ward family is asking for prayers and support from the community. Those looking to help are urged to donate and share the fundraising effort to help ease the financial burden of Rylie’s recovery.

Utah’s Mountains Brace for First Snow as Cold Front Arrives

Utah’s mountains are expected to receive their first snowfall of the season this week as a storm system moves into the region. Snow levels will drop to elevations of 8,500 to 9,000 feet, bringing several inches of snow to higher elevations. Rain showers and significantly cooler temperatures will impact lower elevations. The Wasatch Front and areas like Provo and Ogden are expected to receive up to 0.75 inches of rain. Temperatures will drop into the 60s and 70s, marking the beginning of fall-like weather across the state. This early snowfall sets the stage for the upcoming ski season, with resorts preparing for winter.
