Cool Conversations and Popsicles: Bountiful Neighbors Invited to Community Meet-Up
As summer winds down, residents of Bountiful are invited to enjoy a relaxed evening of conversation and community connection. City Councilwoman, Kate Bradshaw, alongside Dan and Beth, will host a neighborhood gathering aimed at fostering dialogue and bringing residents together in a casual setting.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the home of Pam and Bob Wing. Guests are encouraged to bring their questions, curiosity, and community spirit. Popsicles will be provided to help beat the early September heat.
This informal gathering is part of a broader effort to promote neighborly engagement and open communication within the city. All are welcome to attend.

West Nile Virus Claims One Life as 8 Cases Reported in Utah and Davis Counties
Eight human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Davis and Utah counties, including one death. The fatal case involved an individual over 65 with underlying health issues, according to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services.
West Nile virus is spread through mosquito bites. While most cases are mild, older adults and those with weakened immune systems face greater risks of severe illness, such as encephalitis or meningitis.
Officials urge residents to take precautions: use insect repellent, wear protective clothing, and remove standing water around homes. With mosquito activity expected to last into September, public awareness remains crucial.

Remains Found in Lake Powell Identified as Man Missing Since 1997
Human remains found in a submerged truck at Lake Powell earlier this year have been identified as Donald Allen Smith, a man who went missing in 1997. The vehicle was discovered 100 feet underwater near Halls Crossing Marina in March during a dive operation.
Forensic experts confirmed the identity using DNA and dental records. Smith had last been seen in the Lake Powell area, and his disappearance remained unsolved for over 25 years. Officials believe the vehicle's preservation in deep water, coupled with recent low lake levels, made the discovery possible.
The case, once cold, has now been closed, offering long-awaited answers to Smith’s family.

🏈 Viewmont Improves to 3-0 With Lopsided Win Over Highland
On August 29th, the Viewmont Vikings extended their undefeated run with a commanding 48-7 win over Highland, moving to 3-0 on the season. Quarterback Jack Savage led the charge through the air, throwing for 180 yards and five touchdowns, though he also had two passes intercepted. Meanwhile, Benji Tolman dominated on the ground, rushing for 218 yards and adding two touchdowns of his own. The Vikings set the tone early and never looked back, leaving Highland still searching for their first victory of the year.
