Rock Simile to Headline Free Community Concert at South Davis Rec Center
Local music fans are in for a treat this Friday, October 3, as the band Rock Simile takes the stage for a free outdoor concert at the South Davis Recreation Center. The event, hosted by Blair Lyon Kara Walker-Lyon and Mike Davies, will run from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., offering two hours of energetic live music in a casual, family-friendly setting.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, jackets, and picnic dinners to enjoy the show comfortably. With cool autumn air and upbeat tunes filling the evening, it’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend with friends and loved ones.
The concert is free and open to the public, making it an ideal local outing for all ages. Whether you’re a fan of Rock Simile or just looking for a fun Friday evening, this community event promises good music and great vibes.

Utah Measles Cases Climb to 44 Amid Ongoing Outbreak Linked to Arizona
Utah has reported 44 measles cases in 2025, the majority in the southwest region near the Arizona border, where a related outbreak is ongoing. Several recent public exposure events prompted health warnings, and virus traces have been found in wastewater. Nationally, measles cases have spiked to over 1,500 this year, largely among unvaccinated children. Utah’s low vaccination rates, especially in Washington County, are contributing to vulnerability. Health officials in Utah and Arizona are working together to respond.

Woods Cross Tops Viewmont in Cross-Town Volleyball Matchup
It was all energy and action on Tuesday night as the Woods Cross Wildcats and Viewmont Vikings faced off in a spirited Region 6 volleyball matchup. The Wildcats came out strong and held momentum throughout the match, sweeping the Vikings in straight sets: 25-12, 25-15, and 25-5.
Woods Cross, now sitting at an impressive 15-1 on the season, continued their dominant run with a performance full of teamwork and precision. The win adds another notch to their stellar season as they eye a strong postseason push.
Despite the final score, Viewmont showed moments of solid play and hustle, especially in the second set where they tightened the gap. The Vikings, now 5-10, will regroup and refocus as they prepare for the next stretch of the season.
The rivalry between these neighboring schools always brings out the passion in players and fans alike—and Tuesday was no exception. Both squads brought energy to the court and community spirit to the gym.
