Layton Farm Offers Horseback Riding Lessons with a Personal Touch
A small, family-run farm just outside Kaysville is gaining attention for offering a hands-on, beginner-friendly introduction to the world of horseback riding. Nestled off Angel Street in Layton, Sadie Rose Equine — a newly launched local business — is opening its barn doors to both kids and adults looking to connect with horses in a safe and welcoming setting.
The farm, known as Tipsy Acres, is operated by longtime local Sadie Rose, who has turned her passion for horses into a community-centered offering. After a successful summer of one-on-one riding lessons, Sadie is now expanding her client base, aiming to make horseback riding accessible year-round — even as wet weather sets in.
With a handful of well-trained horses and a teaching style geared toward beginners, the farm offers a low-pressure environment where riders can build confidence and learn the basics of horsemanship. Sadie is also working on contingency plans to keep lessons running during rainy days, ensuring consistency for returning riders.
In addition to lessons, Sadie Rose Equine is planning a family-friendly Halloween event at the farm this October — a seasonal celebration designed to introduce more families to the farm in a fun, festive setting.
The business is now accepting new clients, with more updates available through the farm’s social media page.

Darkly Delightful: “Little Shop of Horrors” Brings a Wicked Twist to CenterPoint Theatre
Little Shop of Horrors is now playing at CenterPoint Theatre in Centerville through October 13. This darkly comic musical follows a meek florist and a man-eating plant that brings fame and fortune—with a deadly twist. Blending horror, humor, and catchy tunes, the show offers a delightfully twisted lead-up to Halloween. Performances run Monday–Saturday evenings, with tickets available online or at the box office.

Driver Turns Self In After Woman Struck in Roy Yard
A woman was struck by a vehicle in her yard in Roy Tuesday morning, prompting a search for the driver who fled the scene. Authorities now confirm that the driver has since come forward and is cooperating with the investigation.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:45 a.m. near the intersection of 3100 West and 4800 South. Emergency responders found a 51-year-old woman injured in the yard of a residential property. According to police, a dark charcoal Toyota RAV4 had veered over the curb and into the yard, striking the woman before leaving the area.
The woman was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. It remains unclear whether she resided at the home where the incident occurred.
Later in the day, Roy police shared images of the suspect vehicle on social media, asking for the public's help. Within hours, they announced that the driver had voluntarily come forward and was cooperating with investigators.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the driver or whether any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.

🏐 Farmington Rallies Past Layton for Key Region 1 Win
Farmington High's Girls volleyball team secured a much-needed Region 1 victory with a 3-1 win over the Layton Lancers. The Phoenix started strong, took an early lead, and despite a setback in the second set—where they lost 25-21—they bounced back decisively. Dominating the final two sets 25-17 and 25-16, Farmington displayed resilience and control to close out the match.
The win was a timely confidence boost for the Phoenix, who advanced to a 4-12 record as the regular season winds down. Layton, coming off a more solid run, now stands at 8-12 after struggling to maintain their momentum beyond the second set. Both teams continue their push for form heading into the season’s final stretch, but it was Farmington that found its rhythm when it mattered most.

🚶 Urban Walking Skills
One of the biggest challenges dog owners face is teaching pups to walk politely in busier, more distracting settings. That’s why urban walking skills are built right into our STAR Puppy, Family Dog, and Canine Good Citizen classes.
We focus on:
• Walking on a loose leash without pulling
• Passing people, strollers, or bikes without barking or jumping
• Stopping calmly at corners and crosswalks
• Redirecting attention with cues like “look at me” or “heel”
These aren’t just party tricks—they’re skills that make outings safer, more enjoyable, and more welcoming for everyone in town.
👉 Come See us at the 🏙️ Neighborhood Main Street Stroll
Join us Friday, October 3rd, from 6–7 PM for the Bountiful Main Street Stroll—a walk designed to encourage connection, healthy movement, and local shopping.
🐾 Preppy Paws will be there! Bring your dog along and stop by for:
• Treat samples
• Tips on leash manners & socialization
• Flyers about upcoming classes
• Healthy food and toy info
This event highlights our three pillars:
✨ Health – Walking together is good for pets and people
✨ Education – Learn leash skills & social tips
✨ Community – Connect with neighbors and support local businesses
🎾 Benefits of Toys – Featuring Tall Tails
The right toy isn’t just fun—it’s essential for your dog’s physical and mental health. That’s why we love Tall Tails toys: durable, safe, and made for every play style.
![]() | • Stuffed Toys – Comfort objects that ease anxiety |
💡 Pro tip: Pair puzzle toys with goat’s milk, freeze-dried treats, or broth to extend playtime, add enrichment, and connect fun back to good nutrition.
