Kenny Creek Trail Now Designated for Hikers, Equestrians, and Leashed Dogs Only
Kenny Creek Trail is now officially limited to hikers, horseback riders, and leashed dogs, following a new designation by Bountiful City and the U.S. Forest Service. Bikes, motorcycles, and one-wheels are no longer allowed to help preserve the trail. The change is already in effect.
More information about Bountiful’s trails can be found at bountifulutah.gov/trails.

Centerville Council Passes Body Art Ordinance, Excludes Historic Main Street
CENTERVILLE — The Centerville City Council has approved a new zoning ordinance allowing body art businesses in commercial and industrial areas, but prohibiting them from the city’s historic South Main Street Corridor. The 3-2 vote came after months of debate over constitutional concerns and the city’s aesthetic priorities.
The issue arose after a local permanent cosmetics provider petitioned the city to expand zoning rules to include fine line tattooing. While the new ordinance opens doors for such businesses in much of the city, Main Street remains off-limits due to its protected historic status.
Opponents, including two councilmembers, argued the ordinance risks violating First Amendment rights and opens the city to legal challenges, noting a recent letter from the ACLU of Utah. They also questioned why similar businesses like waxing salons and fast food are permitted on Main Street but tattoos are not.
Supporters cited the importance of maintaining Main Street’s historic character, especially given its proximity to residential neighborhoods. The ordinance ultimately passed with Councilmembers Mecham, Hirst, and Plummer in favor, and Hayman and Summerhays opposed.

State May Remove Unauthorized Flagpole from Black Rock Landmark
A flagpole displaying the American flag was recently installed atop Black Rock, a historic site on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Though the flag appeared after the Sept. 10 shooting of Charlie Kirk, an anonymous group claims it was placed to honor Sept. 11.
Visible from Interstate 80, the flag has become a popular photo spot. However, the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands says the flagpole was installed illegally, as no permit was issued. Officials emphasized that while they support the display of the flag, structures on state land must follow legal procedures.
Because Black Rock is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the agency is evaluating how to proceed without compromising the site. Law enforcement is investigating the installation and seeking public information.

Pumpkin Season for Pups
Pumpkin isn’t just the mascot of fall—it’s also one of the most useful superfoods you can add to your dog’s diet. Rich in soluble fiber, pumpkin helps regulate digestion in both directions: it can ease loose stools while also helping with constipation. It’s loaded with beta-carotene, which supports immune health, vision, and skin quality. Naturally low in calories, it makes a safe, flavorful meal topper.
Benefits of Pumpkin
• Regulates digestion with soluble fiber.
• Beta-carotene supports immune system and vision.
• Safe, low-calorie topper for weight management.
• Pairs easily with regular kibble or raw food diets.
