Hopeβs Journey β and Jamieβs:
Turning Pain Into Purpose Through Storytelling
At the Bountiful Buzz, we love celebrating locals who use their experiences to bring hope and heart to others. This week, weβre shining a little extra light on Jamie Kodra, a local author whose brand-new childrenβs book, Hopeβs Journey: Finding the Light, is already touching hearts near and far.
When Jamie sat down to write Hopeβs Journey, she wasnβt just creating a story for kidsβshe was sharing her own. For years, Jamie faced emotional ups and downs that left her feeling unseen and misunderstood. It wasnβt until she received the correct diagnosis of bipolar disorder that things began to make sense and true healing could begin.
βLiving with bipolar disorder has taught me one of the hardest truths,β she says. βSometimes the fight isnβt just with the illnessβitβs with the system that overlooks, mislabels, or dismisses what weβre going through.β
That realization inspired her to turn her pain into purpose. Through the eyes of her character, Hope, readers journey through lifeβs storms and roller-coaster emotions while learning to search for light even in dark times. The message is simple yet profoundβthere is always light to be found.
π βHope discovered that even the darkest nights can carry whispers of light.β
More than just a childrenβs book, Hopeβs Journey is a reminder for anyoneβyoung or oldβwhoβs ever felt lost in their emotions. βA diagnosis isnβt a labelβitβs a lifeline,β Jamie says. βIt means the right care, the right medication, and the chance to finally feel understood.β
Today, Jamie is a passionate mental-health advocate, using her voice to help others feel seen and supported. She shares her story through writing and on her podcast, reminding listeners that healing begins when we are truly heard.

Utah Tops Halloween Spirit Rankings with Community-Created Haunted Attractions
When it comes to Halloween spirit, Utah has claimed the crown. The Beehive State has been recognized as the most βspiritedβ in the nation, thanks to its enthusiastic homeowners who go all out with decorations and spooky displays.
From eerie lighting to elaborate setups, neighborhoods across the state transform into festive fright zones, making Utah a standout during the spooky season. While some professional haunted houses add to the experience, the majority of haunts listed on the Rocky Mountain Haunters Map are created by everyday residents with a passion for Halloween.
This interactive map showcases both large-scale haunted attractions and residential displays, making it easy for thrill-seekers to plan a night of fright. Whether you're looking for creepy yard setups or full walk-through haunts, the map is your go-to guide for Halloween fun.
Utahns can even get involved by adding their own haunted homes to the map through the Rocky Mountain Haunters website. So grab your costume, map your route, and get ready to experience the spirited side of Utah like never before.

Woman Rescued After Car Sinks in Deer Valley Pond
A woman is recovering after a vehicle plunged into a pond near Deer Valley's Parking Lot #5 on Friday evening. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m. following reports that a car had entered the water and was sinking.
Upon arrival, Park City Police and Park City Fire Department crews found a woman unresponsive inside the submerged vehicle. Firefighters quickly removed her from the car and began CPR at the scene. She eventually began breathing on her own and was airlifted to a hospital in the Salt Lake Valley, where she was listed in stable condition.
To assist with the recovery efforts, the Wasatch County Search and Rescue Dive Team was brought in to remove the vehicle from the pond.

β½οΈ Woods Cross Falls to Brighton in Second-Half Setback
The Woods Cross girls' soccer team faced a tough Region 6 matchup this week, falling 2-0 on the road to a solid Brighton squad. After a scoreless first half, Brighton broke through in the second with two well-executed goals, securing the win.
Despite a resilient defensive effort early on, Woods Cross struggled to contain Brighton's momentum in the final 40 minutes. Brighton capitalized on crisp passing and strong finishes to put the game out of reach. Meanwhile, the Woods Cross offense couldnβt find the back of the net, despite several pushes into the final third.
With this result, Brighton moved to 10-5 on the season. Woods Cross dropped to 5-12 overall, continuing a challenging stretch in regional play.
